Day 12 さようなら sayonara Japan, onward to Beijing

We are now at Kansai International Airport (関西国際空港  on our way to Beijing, China.

Kansai Kokusai is an international airport located on an artificial island in the middle of Osaka Bay, 38 km (24 mi) southwest of Ōsaka Station, located within three municipalities, including Izumisano ,Sennan  and Tajiri in Osaka Prefecture, #Japan. The airport is off the Honshu shore and was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano. The airport serves as an international hub for All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, and Nippon Cargo Airlines, and also serves as a hub for Peach, the first international low-cost carrier in Japan.

It is colloquially known as Kankū (関空?) in Japanese. (Thanks Wikipedia).

Arrived safely in #Beijing where we were met by Effi – our Chinese tour guide for our visit in this city.  The hotel we are staying at is amazing!  We think it is probably the best room we’ve ever had!  Total kickbutt luxury.  What a welcome change from the flea pit in Kyoto. Push button controls for everything – drapes, TV, lights, blinds to the bathroom…. Oh and a gas mask in a red velvet pouch!

Only other thing to say as it’s bedtime now, is that it’s a holiday weekend and the traffic at 10pm at night was three lanes solid all the way from airport to hotel.  Every make of vehicle from Ford, Citron, Tesla, Merc, BMW, Toyota and so on.
