Day 10, Kanazawa and Kyoto

Hotel this time was excellent, with a totally slamming Western and Japanese buffet with fresh fruit, tomatoes, omelette station, proper bread etc etc!  And enough time to eat before our 8.20am departure.

We all met Sumiko, our guide in the lobby, same group as yesterday and joined a handful of Japanese on a bus and walking tour of Kanazawa.
The first stop was at a traditional #geishastreet Higashi-Chaya-District,  a small area but there are still women employed as geishas today. The tradition of the geisha has changed a bit over the years but is essentially the same. Next we made our way to the #Tentoku-in Buddist Temple. We have seen a few of these temples, but so far pretty much the same, no variation at this one. We did go inside and watched a marionette play about the tragic life of the Tamahime princess.
The #Samuraidistrict was the next stop. This was the neighborhood where the families of the samurai lived, today only one house is still occupied by the descendants of a Samurai. The final stop on the tour today was the #Kenrokuen Gardens. A huge park full of cherry, plum and pine trees and 3 man made ponds each with a small island in it. The islands are supposed to represent immortality which no man can achieve according the historical fables.
Next stop is Kyoto!
